European summer bases

Pick what goes up and across. Tap or click a city for its numbers.

An indicator is one published figure per city. Its level says what the figure describes: the city itself, a wider region, or the whole country. Region and country values are drawn hollow.
A bundle mixes indicators (its ingredients) into a score from 0 to 100: each is rescaled over the 324 starting cities, flipped when lower is better, and averaged by weight. A city needs every ingredient to score. Bundles are the family's own weighting, not data.
The shaded good area is where both axes are on the good side of their line. A line is fixed where the family named a number (days above 85°F, price at the EU average, sea within 10 km), otherwise it is the more forgiving of the starting-city median and Haarlem; a bundle's line comes from its ingredients' lines. Change it under Weights or About.
Cities missing one value sit in the grey strip on that edge; missing both, in the grey cluster below. The "missing" links under the plot give each reason. Nothing is dropped silently.
The starting view is the 324 cities of 150,000 people or more; the Cities button adds the rest of the 2,435. Haarlem, the diamond, is the family's reference stay. Sources and caveats: indicators.csv.
